HyChem, a leading company in hydrogen production, inaugurated on September 26 the first private green hydrogen refuelling station for vehicles in the Lisbon region, located at its industrial complex in Póvoa de Santa Iria — a milestone in advancing sustainable mobility in Portugal. The event also marked the launch of the brand Hy2Move.

The Deputy Secretary of State for Energy stated that energy should be a national priority at the event “Renewable Gases – Powering Iberia’s Industrial Decarbonisation.”

COTEC Portugal, the Business Association for Innovation, has awarded HyChem the “Inovadora’25” status, recognizing it as a company that stands out for its approach to innovation, financial strength, and economic performance.

HyChem achieved it's goals, in terms of both quantity and price, when participating in the first national centralized procurement auction for renewable gases (green hydrogen and biomethane) intended for injection into the public natural gas grid.

HyChem signed a contract with the Floene Group for the construction of a green hydrogen transportation pipeline, which will be injected into the gas distribution network in the Lisbon region.

Portugal's first permanent green hydrogen refueling station, an innovative project by HyChem, is scheduled to open in March 2025. This groundbreaking station, located in Póvoa de Santa Iria, will cater to public transport buses, trucks, and private light vehicles, marking a major milestone in the country’s transition to clean energy.

The EngIQ Doctoral and Advanced Training Program celebrated its 15th anniversary with an event organized jointly by APQuímica, the EngIQ Directorate, and Galp, as the host company, at the Sines Refinery.
