HyChem also holds the exploration concession for a salt mine located in the Matacães parish, in the municipality of Torres Vedras.

Among its upcoming projects, the company plans to reactivate salt production for industrial purposes from the salt reserves available there, and to use the already explored salt cavities for underground energy storage, an essential tool for the country's energy strategy.

Furthermore, HyChem has started to utilize the brine generated in the management process of the existing cavities. This usage involves the purification of excess brine, which is subsequently used in the production process of sodium chlorate, following a circular economy approach.
